Current Conditions

The forecast is for more snow ahead of the upcoming weekend. Right now a grooming session is scheduled for Friday.  Should be a great cross country ski weekend on Black Mountain.

Below are two recent reports:

Re-groomed trails accessible between Bluffs hilly side, north Twin Lakes access and County Line Rd access. Those sections damaged by idiots on multiple horses & big dogs are deep-Ginzued back into looking good again. Continued across to County line Rd access, down to Presque Isle shelter including both black diamond hills, across to E. side returning back up to the rollercoasters. Upper triangle trails, rollercoasters combed & tracked. Plenty of skiing out there for today. Expecting significant new snow on Thursday, turning colder Thursday night on through the weekend.
Expect the full trail system to be regroomed for great weekend classic and skate skiing. Night time grooming temps remained steady at 27 deg.

Skated parts of both the Cheboygan and Presque Isle sides of the trail system today. About 1 inch of fresh snow over a deep, firmly packed base. The rain on Monday did not seem to do any damage to the trails. One inconsiderate person walked with his dog during the rain on Monday over a portion of the trails near the Black Mountain Lodge and did some damage but otherwise the trails were very nice. Classic skiing should be excellent as well with a little snow in nice solid tracks.
