A work party of 4 volunteers moved one set of grooming equipment from the summer storage grounds in Onaway to the Bluffs. The Bluffs trailhead parking lot had a decent amount of new snow at 8 am this morning. It's Lake Enhanced snow and as such it will be 6 inches in some areas and next to nothing in others. But on the other hand in driving to the Bluffs and to Onaway and back it looks like the mountain may have been in the drop zone.
We have a track truck, a groomer and a roller hauled out to the Bluffs and spent the mooring getting it all ready for duty. Over a late lunch of corn chowder at the Bluffs we decided to go out Sunday morning and start rolling the trails.
So Sunday the 15th, we will start operations. We'll see how much we can get accomplished the first day.
The second rig is still in Onaway at the rebuild shop. Jim is still rebuilding the damaged groomer. Jim has added several improvements to the design as well as reinforcements to the weaker areas of the original design. It is quite impressive.
I will post our progress tomorrow evening.
